Immediately after the Tribulation
A few people today teach that the Great Tribulation took place when the Roman General Titus came against Jerusalem in 70 A.D. They indicate that the Second Coming has already taken place and we are now in the time of the Millennium and Christ is reigning on earth from heaven through His church.
Even though their explanations often sound interesting, their theory that the Second Coming has already occurred is in error for many reasons, not the least of which is because it totally rejects the reign of Christ on earth from David’s throne. Scripture states that Christ will return and reign on David’s throne in Jerusalem. Let's examine some Scripture on the topic.
The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion [Jerusalem]; you will rule in the midst of your enemies (Psalm 110:1-2).
For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling: "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it--(Psalm 132:13-14)
"In that day," declares the LORD, "I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief. I will make the lame a remnant, those driven away a strong nation. The LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever (Micah 4:6-7).
This is what the LORD says: "I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem (Zechariah 8:3).
Therefore, the theory that the Great Tribulation took place around 70 A.D. must be false. Because, Jesus said He would come immediately after the tribulation. Therefore, if the Tribulation did take place around 70 A.D. then Christ would still be seen reigning on His throne in Jerusalem.
Jesus said,
Immediately after the tribulation of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other (Matthew 24:29-31).
The Great Tribulation has not occurred and Christ has not returned, yet.
Therefore, keep watch!
